Outpouring — The Outpouring of The Holy Spirit

April 25, 2023

Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying.

Acts 2:2

What a difference it makes in your life, and in the world, when people are overflowing with the Holy Spirit. A person like this we can look back on is the disciple, Peter.

In Matthew 26, when trouble was brewing once Jesus was. betrayed, Peter was asked if he knew Jesus. Even though he spent three-and-a-half years with Him, he was approached three times and denied Jesus at each one, even cursing and swearing the last time. We see a man possibly scared, influenced by what others think, and confused.

However, in Acts 2 he is filled with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. With this outpouring, Peter spoke and 3000 people were saved — the beginning of the Church! He grabbed the hand of a cripple beggar, lifted him and he was healed. He spoke another time, and 5000 more were saved.

When we read the beginning of Acts 4, Peter is now facing the Sanhedrin — the same group he was afraid of when Jesus was crucified. However, with the empowering of the Spirit, Peter told them he was going to listen and obey God and preach the name of Jesus. Once he was released, there was a prayer meeting between him and the other believers where the Holy Spirit filled each and every one of them, empowering them to preach with boldness.

All throughout Acts 5, we read that there were healings and evil spirits defeated. Peter’s shadow, a supernatural shadow of God’s power, was on him from there on out.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to pour into us, the world changes! Nothing can stop God’s people when they are filled to overflowing with His Holy Spirit. That is the same call that we have: to let the Holy Spirit empower us to share the name of Jesus! Not only that, but to let the Holy Spirit lead us in every moment of our lives, giving us strength and showing us where to go.

At Men’s Summit, we believe that each man will be overfilled with the power of the Holy Spirit. If you need to receive the Holy Spirit for the first time, or if you need a renewed empowering, put your hands out in receiving and pray this:

“Lord Jesus, fill me to overflowing with the Holy Spirit. I am a vessel that desires to have the power to live for You and do Your will, sharing the Gospel in my time here.

May my cup overflow with Your presence to the benefit of those around me. I ask You to light a fire within me. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.”
