Freedom – To Live Abundantly in Christ

April 26, 2023

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for you. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”

Matthew 7:7

One of the phrases I found myself saying over the past couple years was, “I am in over my head.” Is that you? Maybe you catch yourself frequently responding to others with “I’m busy” or “I am swamped”. Business can become your idol. It can become your identity. In fact, the world often celebrates stress as a symbol of success.

The truth? Stress and business are stealing your mental health, your joy, and your freedom. In fact, Jesus warned us about this in John 10:10, “A thief has only one thing in mind – he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy.” I know it sounds extreme, but as you reflect on your own stress and business, you might realize it’s destroying your time with Jesus. It seems we find ourselves distracted, lacking focus and half present. Where do we find time to meet with God and learn about all that he has to offer, and the epic plans he has for our lives?

Here’s the good news Jesus proclaims next, “But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect – life in its fullness until you overflow!” Whenever you find yourself stressed, don’t check that next email, stop scrolling on Instagram, and wait a second before you send that text. The life Jesus wants you to have is right in front of you, and all you have to do is reach out and ask for it.

“The Lord will stay with you as long you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him.”
2 Chronicles 15:2

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for you. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7

Is stress controlling your life? Do you find yourself addicted to being busy? Let’s bring it back to the basics of what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”

Jesus stands at the door offering freedom and peace. He wants to bring you into a life that offers abundantly more. Take the step of faith and open the door.

“Lord, thank You that You are the God who brings life in its fullness, and You fill me up to the point of overflowing. Help me to remove the distractions of this world and choose You as my source of peace and power. Fill me with courage to open the door that offers freedom and abundant life. In Jesus name,

Amen!”
